Largest World Cities At what point in history did a city in the Western Hemisphere make the top ten list? In the year 500 CE, Teotihuacan, Mexico had a population of 125,000, becoming #6 on the Largest World Cities list. It did not appear on any other list after this, and it was 1900 before any other Western Hemisphere city appeared.

Largest World Cities When was the first time a city had at least a million people? What city? Beijing, China reached a population of 1.1 million in 1800

Largest World Cities Europe had at least one city on the list from 100 CE until what year? In 1950, London, Paris, Ruhr (Germany) and Moscow were on the list. By 2000, no European country made the top ten list.
