Exploring the Original 13 Colonies A Dolphin Pod Project!

What will we learn? What effect does life in the 13 colonies have on your life today? You will describe the founding of the New England, Middle, or Southern Colonies. You will describe the daily life in the New England, Middle, or Southern Colonies. You will describe the ruling systems in the New England, Middle, or Southern Colonies.

What will we do? Step 1: Be placed in groups and be assigned a group of colonies - Mrs. Coulter will break you into groups of 4 and you will be given a specific group of colonies (New England, Middle, or Southern) Step 2: Research - We will use encyclopedias, books, the internet, videos, and any other resources to find out information about your assigned colonies.

Then what? Step 3: Make a power point presentation - You will work with your group to make a power point presentation. The presentation format is already created for you. You just need to click and add in your colonies’ information along with some cool pictures and text!

Still more! Step 4: Create a brochure - You will act as if you lived in colonial times and create a brochure on the computer convincing someone to travel to your colonies. You need to use your persuasive writing skills! You can do it!

Next step! Step 5: Create a web page - Now with so much information in your head you can make a web page that will be put on our class website. Your web page will tell about one area that really interested you when learning about colonies.

Finally! Step 6: Take a trip back into time - We will then go on a trip to Riley’s Farm where we will learn what colonial life was really like and you will become a real life colonial soldier! Step 7: Present your power point to the class - Get your vocal chords ready and prepare for a 10 minute presentation where you will share with your group what you learned about colonial times.

ARE YOU READY! This is going to be great fun. So ready, get set, and off we go back into time!
