Emphasis The dictionary contains emphasis in the form of bolded words. The words in bold are given importance to differentiate them from the definitions. Emphasis was used by coloring single words, now when you see the quote you immediately tie anger to consequence Putting a stress on a certain element of the text in order to showcases its importance

Contrast The contrast in the image draws the viewers eyes to the object and its shadow. Depending on which color you look at, you either see: two faces, or a cup. The strong contrast creates this illusion. The difference between elements so that the combination of those elements makes one element stand out.

Organization Each tile on this mosaic is organized in a way that shows a face. This arrangement of bricks, known as The Great Wall of China, is an extremely powerful text that is much greater than each individual element. The way that elements are arranged to form a coherent unit.

Alignment The alignment of this text creates the image of a tree. This brochure aligns all text to the left and separates it into three distinct sections. This gives it a clean edge and separates the three frames. HOW THINGS LINE UP

Proximity In red, this menu shows the title of the hot dog, in black is the description. There is much more space between the description and the next item than there is between the item and its own description. Proximity is used to show the elapsing of time in this moon phase diagram. Even spacing shows an even amount of time between each photo. Closeness in space. How elements are grouped together, and what kind of relationships this causes.

COLORCOLOR Red and yellow are put on the label to show increased spiciness. Warm colors like this are often used to get attention. This photographer used editing techniques so that the color emphasizes the red roses. Used to put emphasis on certain elements. Meaning can very depending on shade or amount.

Element The front cover of a book usually contains very important information. Emphasis is put of the title of the book (with less emphasis on: ‘the’ and ‘of.’ Other elements present are: The author, brief description and visual representation of the book Each element is sized differently and put together to form a shape (heart). This shape is easily recognizable and relates to all of the words that make it up. Individual units in the text (words, numbers, letters, colors. The individual pieces that as a whole make up a text

Framing My presentation contains framing. The title and description, examples, and explanations are all in different frames. Also the PowerPoint itself is divided into 10 different frames (slides) These two people are framed by the darker walls into the light rectangle in the middle. Focus is drawn immediately to the two figures. How a visual text is presented. Framing is about the borders of the text and how they draw our focus.

Sequence Comic books and graphic novels frame a bunch of different cells. This framing creates a sequence that shows the advancement in time through still images Directions show a figure in different stages of completion. They are sequentially lined up to show the viewer the correct way to construct this model. The order in which a series of events, action or elements are shown.
