Summary of the current California Public Utilities Commission Energy Efficiency Proceeding (R ) Coordination with UC Davis Center for Water and Energy Efficiency Ned Spang, UC Davis Center for Water and Energy Efficiency RES-BCT Tariff modification/expansion Laura Rudison, SCE Ongoing & Potential Projects/Grant Opportunities/Foundational Support

Excerpt from Scoping Memo released Greater Focus on Water-Energy Nexus Programs “Given the large amount of energy required for the treatment, heating, and conveyance of water, an emphasis during the bridge period on programs that can maximize savings in this area seems warranted. Examples of energy saving measures we should emphasize include leak-loss detection in the distribution system of water utilities and enhancement of water systems efficiency (especially where there is energy or water/energy savings)” … “Therefore, we may need to expand our efforts to develop more creative ways to achieve energy savings related to water usage. In comments, parties are asked to propose and critique additional strategies to overcome barriers to deployment and adoption of EE in the water-energy context.”

61 Formal Parties to the Proceeding 100+ Parties requesting Information 44 State Service Providers …….. 7 Agencies statewide related to water have filed motions for party status More will be encouraged to engage Participation Summary
