Political Machines were organizations that guaranteed votes through both legal and illegal means.

Progressives are reformers working to reform society. They solve problems by studying them and developing plans to correct their root causes.

Muckrakers were journalists who wrote about corruption in business and politics in the hope of increasing public awareness.

The 17 th Amendment Allowed Americans to vote directly for US Senators.
