DAY 1: HAIKU Nature is all around you. Haiku poetry is nature-based. The poem is written about a natural topic (ants, grass, wind, the ocean, etc.) Follows a 5-7-5 syllable count Line 1- 5 syllables Line 2-7 syllables Line 3- 5 syllables
EXAMPLES!
Day 2: Cinquain Poems “Cin” means 5 (think-Spanish –CINCO) 5 lines Line 1-choose a noun Line 2-two words to describe your noun Line 3-three verbs showing actions Line 4-a four word phrase (feelings) Line 5- a synonym for your noun

Day 3: Diamante Poems Shaped like a DIAMOND Line 1-noun Line 2-two words to describe the noun Line 3-three action words about the noun Line 4-two words that go with top noun; two words to go with bottom *opposite* noun –this is where the poem SPLITS! Line 5-three actions about the opposite bottom noun Line 6-two words to describe the opposite bottom noun Line 7-bottom noun; has to be opposite *antonym* of top noun
