Stonefish are the most poisonous type of fish. The stonefish is one of Australia's most deadly marine animals. They look like and blend in with normal rocks.

The stonefish lives primarily north of the Tropic of Capricorn. But the main habitat is on the coral reefs, near rocks, or they can be found in the mud or sand.

The stonefish is brown- greenish in color (which gives them camouflage) with many venomous spines along its back. The stonefish has 13 sharp dorsal spines.

The sting from the venom causes a great deal of pain. After that it starts to swell up. The number of spines penetrated decides whether or not it is major or minor. You will be able to tell if you got bit or not if you have muscle weaknesses, temporary paralysis or shock, which may end up with death if it is not treated.
