Earth, Sun, and Moon 5.8D

Moon A natural satellite that orbits a planet; some planets have no moons; others have over 60 moons.

Craters Bowl-shaped indents or cavities on the surface of a planet, moon, or asteroid that are caused by a collision with another object, such as a meteorite.

Sun The star at the center of our solar system that supplies heat and light to Earth; its enormous gravity keeps the solar system in orbit. It’s made up of Hydrogen and Helium gases.

The heaviness of an object; the force of gravity on mass=weight.

Revolution Making a complete turn around another object. The planets REVOLVE around the sun.

Satellite An object that revolves around a larger object in space. They can be natural (like a moon) or manmade objects.

Tide The rise and fall of the water in the ocean, caused by the pull of gravity from the moon and the sun

Moon Phases What the moon looks like at different times of the month.

Model A representation of something found in real life.

Planet A round body in space made of rocks and gases.

Galaxy A large group of stars. Our galaxy is the Milky Way with billions of stars; it has a spiral shape.
