Welcome to Mrs. Smith’s Class PINE FOREST ELEMENTARY

We begin our day by putting away our things. We then have morning announcements and our pledges. This is an important time of the day because this is when we discuss our theme for the day and give instructions for the day.

At this time we read a new book each week. We introduce new sight words to study for the week. We also use this time to work on phonics and handwriting.

Each morning we will be using our calendar to study different math topics such as place value and sequencing.

Our lunch time is from 10:25 to 10:55. Parents are welcome to join their child for lunch.

Our recess time is scheduled for 10:55 to 11:20 every day unless we are rained out.

-In science we will be studying about planets, dinosaurs, plants, insects, etc. We will also have a special scheduled time to visit our new science lab. -In social studies we will learn about rules and procedures to keep us safe, fire safety, community helpers, etc.

This is a very important time for Kindergarteners. They are allowed to visit the many centers throughout my room for interactive and educational play. After Center Time, we take a break and have milk and snacks while we rest.

We rotate throughout the week with the other Kindergarten classes. I will incorporate this information on my newsletter so that you can ensure your child has the proper footwear on PE days.

We begin afternoon dismissal at 2:30. If you need to pick your child up before this time, they must be signed out in the office first. We are no longer allowed to release a student to ANYONE without a note or call from the office first. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
