Book of the Day! The Pendletons: The original owner became a recluse and was rumored to be more mad after his wife and two kids were kidnapped in 1896 and never found. Animal of the Day Tapirs look something like pigs with trunks, but they are actually related to horses and rhinoceroses. They use this trunk to grab branches and clean them of leaves or to help pluck tasty fruit. They are excellent swimmers and can even dive to feed on aquatic plants. They are endangered species They’re natural enemies to the tiger, leopard, python, and crocodiles due to their large size as adults.
