Study Limits  Sand Point Park (Titusville) to Rotary Park (Edgewater)  33 miles  Two project numbers:  (Brevard)  (Volusia)

Purpose and Need  Potential national destination for both recreational and experienced trail users.  Provide users access to existing scenic natural areas.  Provide a loop connection with the East Central Regional Rail Trail (ECRRT) in Titusville and Edgewater. 4

Character Districts  represent the existing and future land use context, community character and future desired role of the roadway right-of-way from the perspective of the communities and stakeholders.  the basis for how bikes, pedestrians, transit and auto mobility should be considered. Recommended Alternative – US 1 6  Kennedy Pkwy to 200’ south of Halifax Ave  Construct 10’/12’ wide shared-use path on east side of US 1  2.2 miles  Replace any existing sidewalk

Recommended Alternative – US 1 7  200’ south of Halifax Ave (Dollar General Driveway) to 700’ north of Halifax Ave  Resurface existing paved shoulder  0.2 miles Apparent ROW

Recommended Alternative – US 1 8  700’ north of Halifax Ave to Indian River Blvd (SR 442)  Construct 10’/12’ wide shared use path on east side of US 1  8 miles  Replace existing sidewalk with path  Bridge over 2 canals North of Golden Bay Blvd.South of Indian Creek Rd.

Recommended Alternative – US 1 9  Indian River Blvd (SR 442) to Orange Avenue  Resurface existing 4’ paved shoulder  0.6 miles  Inconsistent right-of-way width  Impacts to existing drainage, driveways and utilities will require significant reconstruction  Traffic signal at SR 442 allows bicyclists using shoulders on west side to cross to path on east side of US 1 at a traffic signal  Planned City of Edgewater sidewalk project will fill some sidewalk gaps

Recommended Alternative – US 1 11  Orange Avenue to Park Avenue  Retain existing 4’ bike lanes  Curb and gutter section  Tight right-of-way  0.9 miles South of New Hampshire Street

Recommended Alternative – Park Ave 12  US 1 to FEC Railroad Crossing  Restripe and remove center two-way, left-turn lane to provide a 4’ bike lanes; or keep center lane and provide signing and pavement marking for “sharrows”  0.2 miles  No existing shoulders, tight right-of-way

Recommended Alternative – Park Ave 13  FEC Crossing to Dale Street  Widen to provide 4’ paved shoulders on both sides  0.8 miles  No existing paved shoulder, tight right-of-way

Recommended Alternative 14 Rural KennedyPkwy Environ- mental System Corridor Conservation

Funding 15  Estimate to design and construct recommended alternative  $6.8 Million for 12.7 miles  Design Phase  Unfunded  Right-of-Way Acquisition Phase  Not needed, path is within FDOT right-of-way  Construction Phase  Unfunded

Other Alternatives Considered 16 1.Resurface existing paved shoulders on US 1 2.Off-US 1 route preferred by the City of Edgewater  US 1 to Roberts Road to Hibiscus Drive to Mango Tree Drive to Park Avenue  Impacts a significant number of residential parcels and crosses canal  Can be prioritized and funded as a regional trail project

Adjacent Projects  FDOT Project: (Brevard Portion of Bike Loop)  Only acceptable alternative in MINWR is an off-road bike path Significant Environmental Impacts Current PD&E scope changed to produce a feasibility report Future PD&E study will analyze impacts  Now includes an extension to Playalinda Beach to complete the Coast-to-Coast Connector  Kennedy Space Center Loop Trail  East Central Regional Rail Trail (ECRRT)  Coast to Coast Connector  St. John’s River to Sea Loop  Shiloh Launch Complex 17
