Nicola Gardiner © 2005 Where do I start? All gridmagic artwork starts off on a grid. So you will always start in Grid Design. Your work has columns and rows. Your grid can be anywhere in size form 2x2 cells up to 160x160 cells and be square or rectanglular. The individual cells are always square. The fewer the number of cells in your original grid, the higher the distortion in Artwork. Starting with fewer cells creates more stunning patterns.

The analysis of symmetry allows for understanding the organization of a pattern, and provides a means for determining both invariance and change. By varying relationships within patterns where symmetry is expected, otherwise predictable and repetitive patterns may be transformed into great works of art.
