SHAMROCK….. Helping America prevent child abuse

About Shamrock Around the month of March, every Kappa Delta chapter in the country holds a Shamrock event. Profits from these events are donated to Kappa Delta's national and local philanthropies. Gamma Mu has hosted a flag football tournament for the past 10 years, raising over $80,000 for national philanthropies, as well as our local philanthropies, Lowndes County Department of Family and Children Services and the Methodist Children's Home of Lowndes County. Gamma Mu’s football tournament is the largest and most profitable single-sorority fundraiser at VSU. Click on the banner to see pictures of Gamma Mu's 2004 Shamrock Project.

Since 1981, Kappa Delta has supported the child abuse prevention efforts of Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America), founded by a Kappa Delta, the late Donna Stone (Lambda- Northwestern).

What Prevent Child Abuse America is all about Prevent Child Abuse America was founded by a Kappa Delta sister. This organization has led the way in building awareness, providing education, and inspiring hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children. Kappa Deltas across the world have donated over $5.5 million in support of the prevention of child abuse.

Our 10 th Annual Shamrock event We raised over $10,000 each year through donations and participating teams. There were 6 girls teams and 18 guys teams that entered for this years tournament Over twenty local businesses helped out through donations This year was one of our BIGGEST successes yet!

Prevent Child Abuse Bracelets We also sell blue live strong Prevent Child Abuse bracelet to help raise money for our Philanthropy. Each sister is given a certain amount of bracelets and required to get out in the community and sell them. This year we sold all 500 bracelets!
