LECH LECHA “GO FORTH YOURSELF” Genesis/B’reisheet 12:1 – 17:27 “Abram”

Genesis/B’reisheet 12:1 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go forth from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you."

Learning about Abram Abram in Hebrew means exalted father. Later God changed his name to Abraham. He was a man who loved God. Abram and his family lived in the town of Haran.

Moving Day God asked Abram to leave his family and friends to travel to a new place. God told Abram that He would make his people a great nation. Abram took his wife, Sarah, his nephew named Lot, and all his possessions and traveled where God led them.

God’s Promise to Abram Abram was not even sure where God was leading him, but he followed and obeyed God. Abram trusted God and he knew that God would protect them and bless them. Abram believed God and built an altar Abram was 75 years old.

A Stranger in a Strange Land Life was not easy for his family because they were in a strange place away from their family. Abram knew that God promised to bless them and care for them, so he followed Him with his whole heart.

Looking at the Stars God showed Abram that he would have many children. God told Abram that in the same way he would have more children than all the stars in the sky.
