Presentation transcript:

When sounds are combined in a way that people find pleasing, we call it music.Musical instruments create sounds by causing air to vibrate. By combining notes in different orders and by controlling their timing or rhythm, we create music.

Keyboard instruments are often classified as percussion instruments because they play a rhythmic role in some music. However, most keyboard instruments are not true members of the percussion family because their sound is not produced by the vibration of a membrane or solid material. Sound is produced on the piano by small hammers striking strings. The hammers are controlled mechanically and strike the strings when the player's hands press the piano keys.

The guitar has different parts: Beside the six strings there is the body, the fretboard with the frets. The strings will be tuned with the tuners. The fretboard ends on the body at the hole and under the hole the strings are fastened at the bridge. bodyfretboardfrets tunershole bridge

The saxophone (also referred to as the sax ) is a conical-bore transposing musical instrument that is a member of the woodwind family. Saxophones are usually made of brass and played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to that of the clarinet. The saxophone was invented by the Belgian clarinetist Adolphe Sax in conical-boretransposingwoodwindsingle-reed mouthpiececlarinetAdolphe Sax

The Cello The cello (pronounced like ‘chello”) is the second largest member of the string family. Like the other string instruments, sound is produced by drawing a bow across the strings or by plucking the strings.

The French Horn is a member of the brass family. It has a round, velvety tone that that can be heard over other instruments without overpowering them. These qualities make it a perfect addition to the woodwind quintet, where it is sometimes seen.

cymbals. Perc. instrs. consisting of plate-shaped discs made of brass or other metal with leather handles. The Harp is a member of the string family. Harps have a neck, a resonator and strings. Its strings may be plucked or strummed. A harp player may be referred to as a harpist. History Harps date back thousands of years. Harps can be seen in Middle eastern paintings 2500 years before Christ. King David is easy to find in paintings during his reign.
