Erasmus+ EMJMD in brief Continuation of Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses Excellent Joint Master courses offered by consortia of HEIs from Programme and Partner Countries to attract best students worldwide through high level scholarships Budget : around 14 bilion € 350 Joint Master Degree courses to be selected, Expected to fund 30,000 scholarship (75% from Partner Countries)

Erasmus+ EMJMD: new elements in the 2016 EMJMD Call Streamlined award criteria including different weighting Simplified application Increased and guaranteed number of EMJMD scholarships and number of EMJMD projects planned to be funded EMJMDs applicants will be able to choose if they want to opt out from the preparatory year and start immediately after the selection with the first intake

Erasmus+ EMJMD: new elements in the 2016 EMJMD Call Budget: 57M€ (+ 19M€ for "targeted region") Nr of projects: 27 EMJMDs Nr of scholarship per intake/project: 15 (around 45 per Grant Agreement)

Erasmus+ EMJMD structure offer an integrated study programme, fully recognised in the countries participating require study in at least two of the Programme Countries represented in the consortium can last 12 – 18 – 24 months (60 – 90 – 120 ECTS) lead to the award of a double, multiple or joint degree to all successful students award full-study scholarships for students from all over the world

Erasmus+ EMJMD Funding rule The EU grant for an EMJMD will be indicatively ~ 3 million € HEIs: Contribution to the consortium management costs (incl. costs for invited scholars and guest lecturers)  € per student intake (= € in total) € for optional preparatory year Students: max € per academic year and per scholarship. Actual amount varies according to: ∗ EMJMD's length of studies (60, 90 or 120 ECTS credits) ∗ Student's country of residence ∗ EMJMD level of participation costs

The HEI applies on behalf of the EMJMD consortium EMJMDs are open to public or private organisations in Programme or Partner Countries HEIs Non-academic partners (enterprises, non- profit organisations, NGOs, foundations, etc.)

Erasmus+ EMJMD: how to apply (HEIs) HEIs established in a Programme Country: Accreditation at national level of each degree-awarding Master programme on the basis of which the EMJMD programme is composed – required at application stage Cooperation with HEIs and other eligible participating organisations from Partner Countries (benefits: specific expertise, visibility to students and employers, promotion, etc.) Associated partners (optional): specific tasks/activities, e.g. dissemination, knowledge and skills transfer, internships, etc.

Erasmus+ EMJMD: how to apply (HEIs) Minimum EMJMD consortium composition: 3 HEIs (including the coordinator) from at least 3 different Programme Countries and one from a partner country at least Proposals assessed by experts on basis of relevance, quality of design, quality of team, impact and dissemination

Erasmus+ EMJMD: how to apply (HEIs) Institutional commitment of all organisations participating in the EMJMD consortium. In line with the principles of the European Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), it must cover all academic, operational, administrative and financial aspects related to the implementation of the EMJMD.

Erasmus+ EMJMD: how to apply (HEIs)  Applications to be submitted using an eForm with attachments 1. Register the partnership's organisations in the Participant Portal and receive a Participant Identification Code (PIC) 2. Create your electronic application form using your PICs 3. Fill in the eForm 4. Attach completed versions of the attachments within the eForm  Description of the project (Step 1, Step 2, if applicable Targeted regions), Grant request table, Declaration on honour and Partners' Mandates, Other relevant annexes 5. Submit the eForm on-line

Erasmus+ EMJMD: evaluation procedures  Independent external experts – 3 experts assess each proposal in a two-step evaluation procedure → First step: 75% (30 points) of the maximum allocated points for "Relevance" →Second step: only those proposals that have passed the first step will be assessed against the remaining award criteria To be considered for funding, proposals must score at least 70 points overall

Erasmus+ EMJMD: award criteria  Quality of the project team & the cooperation arrangements (max 20 points) expertise of the involved partners/staff institutional commitment of partners; governing bodies and management tools joint criteria for student application, selection and admission requirements, examination and performance evaluation financial outline of the EMJMD, including complementary funding  Impact and dissemination (max 20 points) development and sustainability strategy, mobilisation of other funding sources for scholarships and self-funded students institutional impact and internationalisation strategy entrepreneurship, involvement of employers and employability of graduates promotion, dissemination and awareness raising strategy, excellent students promotion of course materials and media through open licences (if relevant)

Erasmus+ EMJMD: how to apply (individual)  Students apply directly to the EMJMD consortium. All on-going EMJMDs offering scholarships are included in the EMJMD catalogue available under the following link: individuals/joint-master-degrees/scholarships_en  EMJMD scholarship holders:  must have a first higher education degree or equivalent  must not have received an Erasmus Mundus Master Course and/or Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate scholarship/fellowship in the past  can submit a scholarship application to maximum three EMJMD programmes  must sign a student agreement with the EMJMD consortium
