MANITOBA Krystal

LOCATION Manitoba is one of the ten provinces found in Canada. Manitoba is one of the three prairie provinces. Manitoba is the fifth smallest in Canada.

HISTORY The fist people to live here were the Cree, Saulteaux, Assiniboine, Chipewyan, and Ojibwa. Manitoba is a Cree name that means “the place where the spirit speaks.” Fort Rouge was one of the first settlements. The Flin Flon city was originally named in 1915 after Professor Josiah Flintabbatey Flonatin

FACTS Manitoba`s capital city is Winnipeg. Manitoba`s main flower is the Prarie Crocus. Manitoba`s main tree is the White Spruce. The Great Gray Owl is Manitoba's main bird.

POPULATION The population in Manitoba is about 1,000,000 Canadians. Most of the people that live in Manitoba come from Britain, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and East and Southeast Asia. Most of the people speak English and French. The largest city in Manitoba is Winnipeg.

CAPITAL OF MANITOBA The golden boy holds wheat in his left hand and a torch in his right hand the wheat represents farming and the torch represents growth. Winnipeg has one of the best ballet companies in the world. The ballets they perform are Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and the Nutcracker.

WATERWAYS Manitoba has three large lakes Winnipeg, Winnipegosis, and Manitoba Lake. Manitoba`s three largest rivers include Churchill River, Nelson River and Hayes River they all flow into Hudson Bay.
