Recruiting Flow Post Position Conduct initial screen Narrow down for Face to Face Review Resumes Identify Candidates to Telephone screen Set up Face to Face with Hiring team Bring in for 2 nd or 3 rd Interview Make Decision/Offer Hired Estimated time frame 30 days 90 days

Human Resources “Preparation for attracting & selecting the ideal Candidate” Review and/or create job a profile with hiring manager (Identify critical must have and ideal wants) Post to identified sites & search or review social media (Linked In or other professional sites aligned to a position such as: NPO for non-profit, ABA for attorneys) Review Resumes, Cover Letter Basic Qualifications (education, years of relevant experience and/or certifications) Format (i.e. clear, concise, relevant, length, structured - any typos?) Salary history/requirements (if noted) Job Hopper? 3-4+ years ok; 1-2 yrs with multiple positions over a short time span = red flag Narrow down to manageable number for telephone screening Conduct telephone screening Set up interviews; give background about position and company/dept. culture Conduct behavioral interview (candidate should be prepared to provide specific examples pertaining to the question), probe for clarification or detail if answers are vague or general Arrange face to face with hiring team; may bring back in for meeting with senior managers or exec staff Caucus to review notes, make determination if you need more info or want to make an offer Make the offer & Hire the Candidate!!!

Candidate “Prepare for your Interview” Practice, practice, practice (in front of a mirror, with a friend, mock interviewing) Provide a clean/clear copy of your resume & cover letter (Up-To-Date & Relevant) Be prepared to answer questions, such as why did you leave your previous position, and never bad mouth anyone from a previous position Know your stuff, be able to provide examples (either verbally, or a work product you led/prepared or participated on - if it’s not confidential) You should know your resume inside out (maintain eye contact) Listen to and answer the question, if you didn’t have the experience noted in the question - it’s ok to say you didn’t Most importantly, be yourself and relax; don’t be afraid to show your enthusiasm for the position Follow up with a thank you note to each interviewer (personalized note). It can be an , also finish by stating your enthusiasm for the position and you’re open to any questions Follow up again…(wait a couple of weeks and send a touch base note)
