Brief: Most Irish households have difficulty storing and finding keys when required. Often times we are delayed and suffer stress as a result. The MTW students of Scoil Mhuire have been approached to design and make a decorative artefact to help solve this problem. The artefact should be capable of storing a minimum of 3 keys. The artefact is to be wall mounted and have a theme of nature.

Analysis of brief: Step 1: Understanding the terms and words used

D O YOU KNOW WHAT ALL THESE WORDS MEAN ? Design and make a decorative artefact to help solve this problem (storing keys). The artefact should be capable of storing a minimum of 3 keys. The artefact is to be wall mounted and have a theme of nature.

D EFINITIONS OF WORDS Design: Design is the way we solve problems and find the best solution to them Decorate: To enhance the appearance of something; adorn Artefact: Something made or given shape by man, such as a tool or a work of art Nature: The natural physical world including plants, animals, landscapes etc

Key considerations: The piece of art must have a nature theme It must be visually appealing It must incorporate Pyrography It must store at least 3 keys It must be capable of hanging on a wall It should be unique to reflect your own personality
