GOAL 4 REDUCE CHILD MORTALITY

Deaths of children under five

Despite progress, deaths of children under five remain unacceptably high In 2006 annual deaths among children under five dipped below 10 million It is different in a developing country rather than in an industrialized country Disparities persist in all regions

The leading causes of childhood deaths are easily prevented through simple improvements in basic health services and proven interventions Undernutrition is estimated to be an underlying cause in more than one third of all deaths in children under five

There are methods that provide safe, lifelong protection The second-dose coverage has reduced global deaths from measles, surpassing the initial target

Vaccinations have slashed deaths from measles
