WHY DID CHINESE IMMIGRANTS SETTLE IN TEXAS – 3 REASONS Many Chinese immigrants had previously been peasants arriving in United States to serve as laborers, such as railroad workers. Chinese immigrants also came to Texas to work as sharecroppers and farm laborers.
