Spectrophotometry Do you want a footer?

Intro to Spectrophotometry In chemistry, spectrophotometry is the quantitative measurement of the reflection or transmission properties of a material as a function of wavelength Spectrophotometry involves the use of a spectrophotometer (a photometer that measures intensity as a function of the light source wavelength) Do you want a footer?

Intro to Spectrophotometry A spectrophotometer is commonly used for the measurement of transmittance or reflectance of solutions and transparent or opaque solids This has many applications in fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, and molecular biology Do you want a footer?

How a spectrophotometer works In short, spectrophotometers work by directing a beam of light through a sample and then measuring either the amount of light that is reflected by the sample, or the amount of light that is transmitted through the sample.

Measuring Transmittance By measuring transmission scientists can quantify the amount of material present in a solution. The amount of light transmitted through a sample gives a quantitative measure of the turbidity of the sample. The more turbid a sample is the less light is transmitted through the sample. Measuring Transmittance This can be useful in estimating the number of cells in a sample, or the amount of a certain chemical in a sample. Do you want a footer?
