1 SPAFOA meeting May 21, 2015 BNL Center Accelerator Stewardship Test Facilities Pilot Program at BNL Ilan Ben-Zvi Head, Accelerator R&D Division, C-AD

2 Widely publicize available Office of Science (SC) accelerator R&D infrastructure through individual, lab-organized outreach events, publicize the lesser-known accelerator R&D infrastructure to a wide audience Survey the potential Stewardship demand for this R&D infrastructure Identify potential collaborative activities that bring high added value to both the lab and the Stewardship partner Seed fund a few R&D examples A few cases will be selected for FY 15 funding by a peer- review process Test the process for engaging Stewardship partners, the business and legal mechanism, outreach methods, general support needs, etc. The Accelerator Stewardship Test Facility Pilot Program

3 The BNL Accelerator Test Facility and ATF-II The Tandem Van de Graaff The Instrumentation Division Various facilities for detectors, microelectronics etc. The Superconducting Magnet Division Magnetic Test Facility Direct Coil Winding Facility Magnet construction Brookhaven Linac Isotope Producer NASA Space Radiation Laboratory RF Test Facility Vertical testing of large and small SRF cavities 800 degrees vacuum oven Clean rooms TOUR – Please contact Pam Manning and choose which facilities you would like to visit: NSLS-II, SMD or ATF-II / ERL / VTF BNL Test Facilities in this program

4 6/15/15 Labs submit Proposals to HEP for seed funding – very tight schedule! Two small businesses interested in use of our RF Test Stand We are considering to submit a proposal Additional participants are welcome. Possibility for action
