 Think – write down your answer on your PSA handout.  Pair – Find a partner. (not the same partner)  Share – Partner 1 has 30 seconds to share. Partner 2 will listen and paraphrase what the other said. Then roles switch.

 Discuss in your group and record at the top of your group paper.  Persuasion is the act or fact of causing someone to do or believe something through reasoning or argument.

 Discuss in your group and make a list on your group paper.

 Re-watch the PSA examples.  Where did you see persuasion?  How is sound used as a persuasive technique? › Discuss in your group and record your answers on your group paper.

 Create a Storyboard. › Plan your ideas as clearly as possible. › What is your topic? › What websites will you use for information? › What do you want the viewer to do? › What will we see? › What will we hear? (music, speech, noise, etc) › One storyboard per team with both your names on it. Get it approved by Ms. Garcia.

 Pre-production is the stage in a film’s life when it has been approved, but filming has not yet started. It is during pre-production that all the preparation for filming takes place to ensure that filming is problem free.  What types of things do you think you will need to complete during pre-production?  Why is pre-production important?

 You MUST get your storyboard approved before beginning Production (filming)!

 Has my storyboard been approved?  Do I have my scripts written?  Have I saved any still images that are needed from the internet?  Do I know where I’m filming? › Do I need special permission to film there?  Do I have any signs/posters made?  Do I have the music I need?  Have my actors practiced?

 Storyboard completed and approved? › It’s time to start filming!  Follow your plan! › Take your Storyboard with you.

 Sign out a flip camera.  Ensure the camera is working and batteries are charged. › See Ms. Garcia with any issues.  Log into your computer!  Ask for permission to leave the classroom › Sign out and take a Media Tech Hall Pass. › Keep an eye on the time and return 10 minutes before the bell upload your footage.  BEHAVE while outside or you will lose the privilege.

 Keep an eye on the time and return with enough time to upload your footage (10 mins)  Check in the Media Tech Hall Pass  Connect the Flip Camera to computer via USB  Open Computer > Flip Camera  Move window to the side and leave open  Open Computer > Your Folder  Move window so you see both windows  Drag and Drop your videos from the Flip Camera window to your folder window  Rename your videos so you know what they are!  BE ORGANIZED! CREATE FOLDERS!

 Delete your videos! › Do not leave any videos on your camera! › Upload before you leave! › Don’t risk your videos being deleted!  Check in the Flip Camera › Tell Ms. Garcia if you had any issues with the camera or if the batteries need to be replaced

 Start a new Movie Maker project.  Save it to your folder › If you’re working with a partner, you may choose to save it to the Garcia folder so you may both have access to it should one person be absent.  Make the file name PSA_YourNames

 Adding Text › Make it meaningful › Think about the size and font type › Think about the font color and how it will appear with the background you have chosen. › Check SPELLING and GRAMMAR!

 Transitions and Effects › Use purposefully › Play around with different transitions and effects and see which fit best in your video

 Adding Voice-overs › This could be the most moving part of your video › Watch your speed – not too fast or too slow! › Speak loudly and clearly › Place emphasis on desired words › Don’t speak monotone – it’s boring!

 Adding Music › Use purposefully › You want the music to add to your message, not overshadow it › Use the fade in/fade out when needed

 Congratulations! Your PSA is complete!  Save your PROJECT one last time to your folder, in case changes need to be made (Blue Tab > Save Project As)  Save as a MOVIE to your folder  Save as a MOVIE to the GARCIA folder › Save Movie › For Computer › Navigate to your folder/Garcia folder

 Get a PSA Reflection handout › One PER PERSON  Answer the questions thoughtfully and completely giving specific examples when needed  Turn into the basket when completed
