 The V-Directorate is part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) Directorate.  This Directorate coordinates and oversees the Auxiliary mission in support of the Coast Guard Office of Boating Safety Division with the development and implementation of various RBS programs. National V-Directorate 4

 The V-Directorate has responsibility for two key mission programs: Vessel Examination Recreational Boating Safety Visitation Program V-Directorate Key Missions 5

 Additional responsibilities include liaisons with non-profit, commercial, and governmental organizations that deal with boating safety issues including the United States Sail & Power Squadrons V-Directorate Key Missions 6

Although the two programs deal with different audiences, their goal is synonymous: To deliver the RBS message to the greater recreational boating community through personal interaction. 2 Programs 1 Goal VESSEL EXAMINATIONS PROGRAM VISITATIONS SAVE LIVES AND EDUCATE BOATERS !!! 7

The RBS Message 8 The message includes:  The value and maintenance of recreational vessels and their boating safety equipment.  Safe boating techniques - the right behavior.

The RBS Message 9 The message includes:  The promotion of additional boating safety education: that knowledge is the key to a safer boating experience.  Marine Domain Awareness - America’s Waterway Watch Program.

The RBS Message 11 The message includes:  On the water environmental issues.  The adverse affects of alcohol and drugs (legal and illegal) on the recreational boater.  Boating Responsibly!

 As the V-Directorate looks to the future, its primary thrust is to instill in the minds of our Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors that they are: We are Educators. Our front line in the mission to promote Boating Safety. Recruiters for the Auxiliary. 12 Visualizing The Future

Each and every person encountered is an opportunity to educate that person with the knowledge that one day may save lives. Visualizing The Future 13

As Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors we must:  Continue to support repeat business while placing a strong emphasis on reaching new customers. 14 Visualizing The Future

As Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors we must:  Take that extra step to explain the value of safe boating during Vessel Safety Checks and Program Visits. 15 Visualizing The Future

As Vessel Examiners and Program Visitors we must:  Work together as a cohesive group in an effort to make a difference and help save lives. 16 Visualizing The Future
