If the world was perfect, it wouldn't be.

What Is Perfection The state of being without a flaw or defect Paragon: an ideal instance; a perfect Embodiment of a concept the act of making something perfect

What is Perfection (cont.) The quality or state of being perfect or complete, so that nothing requisite is wanting; entire development; consummate culture, skill, or moral excellence; the highest attainable state or degree of excellence; maturity; as, perfection in an art, in a science, or in a system; perfection in form or degree; fruits in perfection.

What are the Positives of a Perfect World? Positives- Looks good if aliens find us - Less murder/violence/crime - More civilised community

What are the Negatives of a Perfect World? Negatives- Nothing to strive for - More discrimination - Will put the ‘un-perfect’ people out of jobs

Aspects of the Perfect World Depicted in Gattaca The names used in Gattaca represent several aspects of ‘the perfect world.’ Here are a few examples- Jerome = Genome (Genetic material) “Eugene” = comes from Greek, which means “well born” Gattaca = GTCA, symbols for four main chemicals in DNA. Irene Cassini – the Cassini division is the largest gap in Saturn’s rings

What is Your Idea of a Perfect World? “We used to think our future was in the stars. Now we know it is in our genes.” — James Watson, Nobel Prize winner “There is no gene for fate,” Vincent “I belonged to a new underclass, no longer determined by social status or the color of your skin. No, we now have discrimination down to a science.” Vincent (narrating)

Will There Ever Be A Place For Discrimination? NO Never has been, Never will be Is there any need for it? Why should it change from what is at now?

Perfect Worlds In Other Media There are perfect worlds highlighted in many books, movies and TV shows e.g: - ‘Real World’ – The All American RejectsReal World -‘A Perfect World’ (1993) -‘Perfect’ – Simple Plan -‘Under The Dome’ Stephen King
