Sustainable tourism in Estonia Sandra Tammeleht Deili Lemsalu Kuressaare Regional Training Centre

 Sustainable environment covers the main concepts of social welfare in the tourism sector.  Sustainable development covers three main concepts: social welfare, economic and environment. What is sustainable tourism?

 Ecotourism is a responsible way of travelling, ensuring, supporting the natural and cultrural heritage and the wellbeing of local inhabitants.  Ecotourism offers wonderful experiences through the contact of local inhabitants, bigger understanding of the cultural, social and environmental protection. Ecotourism

 One of the expressions of sustainable tourism is the use of ecosigns  In Estonia, the following ecosign systems are at work:  Roheline Võti / Green Key  EHE  PAN Parks Ecosigns and sustainable tourism

 Green Key is the international ecosign in economic enterprise.  EHE is the quality mark for ecotourism, marking the natural and cultural tourism products.  PAN Parks is used to mark the European national parks and tourism enterprises tourism associations. Ecotourism

 The cornflower is an Estonian quality mark aimed at Estonian accomodation houses.  The cornflower is given out in sets of two or three depending on the quality and the decision of the commission after a regular check up. Cornflower – a sign of a qualified accomodation.
