Equipment/Software Project Mark Benak

Types of Equipment and Software Heart Rate monitors Pedometers Dartfish Software Stopwatch Step Machine

Heart Rate Monitors Measure students heart rate during class Can be worn as a watch or across student’s chest Cost- $30.00 Comfortable to wear Buy at Walmart ( monitors/exercise---fitness- accessories/4125_4134_ _ )

Benefits for a Heart Rate Monitor Can show teachers in P.E classes if their students are progressing Shows teachers if students are participating in class Can show students how their heart works during physical activity Students can learn more about their heart and what the maximum level their heart can go (when a person exerts their body past 85% you go in anaerobic zone)

Pedometers Counts the number of steps a person takes Counts the number of calories burned Can even count the number of miles a person walks Cost- Can range from anywhere between $20.00-$50.00 Buy at Walmart ( ---fitness-accessories/4125_4134_ _ )

Benefits of the Pedometer Can tell students how many steps and calories they have burned during physical activity Teachers can set a certain number of steps they want students to achieve and by the end of class teachers can tell by each students pedometer Students can learn how many calories it takes to burn off fat Very easy to access and to program

DartFish Software Program Video analyze that enables teachers to edit and show students progress Students can watch themselves after performing a certain activity Is clinically proven to help athletes practice and perform better Helped the U.S Olympic Team in 2010 win 162 medals

Benefits of Dartfish Software Teachers can have the class do certain physical activities and video tape them. Students can learn from their mistakes by watching the video analyze and do it correctly the next time Can make P.E classes fun and exciting because teachers can have students edit the videos and add graphics and voiceovers. Cost- $1,000 Comes with free trial

Stopwatch A stopwatch is used to measure the time spent doing an activity. It is a great way to accurately time students and push them to get better results each time. ng.do?search_query=Stopwatch&adid= &wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=e&wl1=g&wl2=c& wl3= &wl4=&veh=sem

Benefits of Stopwatch You may be involved in exercises that consist of short but intense sprints that involve maximum physical effort or in a long, sustained effort such as a marathon. Either way, you can benefit by being able to determine how much time you are expending with your efforts. Some stopwatches allow you to store information and retrieve it at a later time for comparison. Students can see their progress. Cost- $15.00

Step machine Used for muscular endurance due to the combination of endurance and strength training. Forces the muscles to adapt to an increased workload. Each step or repetition causes your muscles to contract and then relax. They also come in all shapes and sizes, so they can be flexible when using them in a classroom setting. Cost- $ $1,000 steppers/b

In conclusion.. These equipment and software pieces would be very beneficial in a classroom setting. The heart rate monitor, pedometer, dartfish software program, and a step machine would all make physical education a better overall experience.
