FAMILY IN THE MIDDLE EAST

In the Middle East, the family is the traditional basic socioeconomic unit. It is mainly patriarchal, hierarchical and extended. This holds true in rural, urban, and tribal structures. Legal issues involving women's status in the Middle East tend to be quite different from those in the West. Although there are feminist organizations in Middle Eastern countries, they tend to be small and to lack significant input into the political process. Food issues also have plagued the family, increasing famine has occurred.

DESCRIBE THE IMPACT THAT THE UNITED NATIONS HAD ON THE MIDDLE EAST CONCERNING YOUR ISSUE  United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has announced that it would soon provide emergency food assistance for about 350 families with around 2,100 people in the Gaza Strip (in the middle east) whose houses were destroyed in recent Israeli attacks. The families would receive canned food and bread for an initial period of 10 days, UN Deputy Spokesperson Eduardo del Buey said at a daily news briefing here on Wednesday.  The President of the United Nations General Assembly, a lawyer and rights advocate from Bahrain, has issued a strong call for addressing the social, educational and other constraints impeding the equality of women in the Middle East.  Describe the impact that the UN has on the Middle East concerning your issue.

Apart from healthcare in which gaps between men and women have greatly narrowed in the Middle East during the past decades, participation of women in economic activities is not remarkable. Statistics on political activities by women and their presence at high decision-making levels depict a far worse picture compared to their economic status. During the next decade, women in regional countries will seek to get equal rights with men and the dominantly masculine state of economy and politics in the region is sure to change in favor of gender equality. It is reported that aside from the united nations involvement with the poverty crisis in the middle is spreading WHAT DOES THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR ISSUE IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

Will any issues be resolved The womens rights issue of the family will not be resolved but will start to get better. However, the food supply issue for families will still be lagging. Poverty is supposed to increase slightly.
