NCA ’s Prevention of Trafficking Project Five strategies: 1)Awareness raising. 2)Capacity building of FBO partner institutions and key personnel. 3)Research and Data collection. 4)Networking with other stakeholders and relevant government institutions. 5)Create protection networks at community/district level.
Prevention of Trafficking in Women and Children Project Target groups: 1)Women and children in areas where trafficking has reportedly had a high prevalence (Karonga, Nkhata Bay, Lilongwe, Dedza, Mchinji, Nkhotakota, Blantyre and Mulanje). 2)Street children in Blantyre and Lilongwe. 3)Key personnel from FBO partners. 4)Religious leaders from all denominations in Malawi.

Since 2007 to date NCA has built capacity of:- 1.Faith Based Institutions 2.Pastors, religious personnel (More than 2,000 have been trained). 3.Teachers 4.Police (Victim Support Officers) 5.NGO’s 6.District Assembly officials CAPACITY BUILDING
7 Some notable achievements with partners 1.Micro-credit for poor families has been disbursed 2.Identifying children at ‘high risk’ on the streets of BT and Lilongwe 3.Village vigilance committees have been formed 4.Participated in the drafting of the trafficking in persons bill 5.Supported and participated the Ministry of women and child development in the activities of Day of the African Child on 16 th June 2009

Financing Network on the national dialogue meeting Study Visit to South Africa (done) Support open day campaigns in 3 districts Karonga, Mchinji, Mangochi in the next coming months Financial support to the Law Commission to wind up the trafficking in persons bill. Awareness campaigns through media
Recommendations... Continuous National NGO Consultative Conferences or dialogue meetings – identify common concerns, objectives to prevent TIP, develop an action plan and framework for cooperation and coordination Set up a National NGO Coordination Forum to prevent trafficking in persons... Objectives – share experiences, network, faciliate joint actions, referal protocols, strategic interventions and participation in governmental processes and forums. AND advocate for the speedy enactment of the trafficking in persons bill into law.
