MENTAL MATHS QUIZ COMPETITIONS

Mental Maths books for the year 2015-16 printed by DBTB & distributed to all schools through the respective Zonal Distribution Centre. All HOS to ensure: books are made available to the students latest by 16.11.2015. students are informed that the syllabus for the Quiz Competitions shall be according to the online weekly syllabus covered at each level vigorous practice is given to students of classes V to X from these books

Level 1 --- Classes 5th and 6th Level 2 --- Classes 7th and 8th REVISED GUIDELINES AND SCHEDULE Quiz shall be held at three levels of classes and not for each class separately. The levels are: Level 1 --- Classes 5th and 6th Level 2 --- Classes 7th and 8th Level 3 --- Classes 9th and 10th There shall be six students in each team; three each from one class at all the levels. However, in schools where there is no class 5th, 3 students shall be of class 6th at the Level 1.

CONTINUED:- Students shall be allotted serial numbers is ascending order; for example Serial Numbers 1,2,3 to the lower class and 4,5 and 6 for the higher class at each level Selection of questions shall be such that there are equal number of questions for both the classes at all three levels, for example at the 3rd level, in a round of 12 questions, 6 questions shall be for class 9th and 6 questions for class 10th

QUIZ RULES from School Level to Regional Level Rounds:-There will be 4 rounds ( 2 rounds for each class ) 2. No. Of Questions:- 3 questions in each round for each team up to the regional level.(i.e. 6 questions for each class) 3. Time allotted : - 20 seconds for each question, 10 seconds for passed over question

QUIZ RULES continued 2 points for each question 4. Points awarded : 2 points for each question 1 Bonus point for passed over question correct answer to be declared only after 20 seconds are over. Individual participants shall receive points too.( This rule does not apply at the state level.) 5. Each participant of a team can answer only once in the allotted time of 20 seconds.

QUIZ RULES continued 6. TIE:- In case of a tie, additional common questions shall be asked to each participant up to regional level. First correct response given by the participant within 20 seconds will be selected. But in state level 3 questions shall be asked to the teams in case of tie and one giving maximum correct answer will be winner. 7. Selection of students:- A total of 6 students –Best 6 (3 from lower class 3 from upper class, 1 reserve candidate from each class) should be selected up to the regional level.

2nd Round --- Visual Round of 3 questions for each team. Quiz Rules for State Level There will be 3 rounds -: 1st Round :- Calculation Round of 3 questions for each team. 2nd Round --- Visual Round of 3 questions for each team. 3rd Round --- ‘Rapid Fire Round’ where in 1 minute is allotted to each team in turns to answer to maximum 8 answers

Quiz Rules for State Level Continued 2 points is awarded to each correct answer in round 1 and 2 At the State Level- Only the team is selected. 1 bonus point is awarded to each team for correct answer of passed over question 1 point is awarded to each correct answer in rapid fire round
