Why Learn Spanish?

So, you’re in a Spanish class… *Whether YOU wanted to study Spanish, *Your PARENTS wanted you to study Spanish, *Spanish is the ONLY option at school for you, It doesn’t matter! You’re lucky to be learning an extremely valuable language! This presentation will tell you why!

How many people speak Spanish? An estimated 470 million 1 people speak Spanish as a native tongue in the world! That’s almost 7 percent of the world!

*Only 20% of Americans speak a second language! Compare that with 56% of Europeans who speak a second language! We can improve!

Cognitive Abilites 3 Studies have shown that being bilingual has many cognitive advantages. Such as : Improving memory skills Building multitasking skills Improving decision-making skills Becoming more perceptive It also has been shown to offset age-related cognitive losses i.e Alzheimers & dementia Language learning also helps to improve our English, as we become more aware. We learn about nouns, prepositions, verbs, Etc. We can also learn about roots, and its meanings to help us decipher new English words.

Personal Reasons Maybe you want to learn how to speak with your grandma more? Maybe you want to know what the people in the store are saying? Maybe you need to know what your favorite Spanish song is talking about? Maybe you want to look all cool reading a book in Spanish in the bus?

But how long will it take me? The average student takes 600 classroom hours to learn Spanish. That’s around 3-5 years. That may seem like a long time, but Spanish is actually classified as an “easy” language to learn. A typical “hard-to-learn” rated language like Chinese takes up to 2,200 classroom hours! So, you’ve got a really great chance of becoming fluent in Spanish if you make the effort!

So, get started!
