Biome Research By D.C. Fortenberry (

 The grasslands are a large area dominated by grass and few trees. They have cold winters and hot summers.

 The grasslands are filled with organisms that are mostly herbivores and grasses.  The species of grass include tall grass, short grass, mixed grass, wild oats, rye grass, and buffalo grass.  Animal species include bison, antelope, birds, gophers, prairie dogs, coyotes, lynx, antelopes, falcons, and fox. Just to name a few…

 Organisms that live there need to be able so survive cold winters and hot summers,  Be able to eat grass,  And Dig holes for shelter.

 Small animals dig holes in the dirt for shelter, and wildfires encourage grass growth.

 Biodiversity is the variety of different animals in an ecosystem or habitat.  If an ecosystem has very little variety of animals, it has a low biodiversity.  It can be studied on many levels. It can be studied around the entire earth, or in a small area like a park.

 When you have a greater variety of animals, some animals can help or support other animals.  Biodiversity also helps humans. With many different types of plants, we can make new medicines that can save lives.
