Presentation transcript:

Arguable? - Nya walked a long way to get water. -Nya’s life changed when the well was built in her village. -The biggest change in Nya’s life was the freedom she gained from daily chores.

Dividable? - -The biggest change in Nya’s life was the freedom she gained from daily chores. -The biggest changes in Nya’s life were the freedom she gained from daily chores and her reconsideration of whether the Dinka were enemies. - The two biggest obstacles for Nya to overcome were her physical efforts to gain water for her family and her mental efforts to understand why a Dinka would help her Nuer village.

Provable? -Nya was the smartest girl in her village. -When Nya grew up, she started her own well- digging charity organization. -Nya would have died without Salva’s help.

Sweet Spot?

Too General? Nya is a hero. Nya had difficult obstacles to overcome. Nya’s life changes throughout the book in important ways that the reader reads about. Many people helped Nya succeed, which is good, because people should help people and throughout history many people do help people except when they are killing each other in war.

Too Specific? Nya is a hero because she gets a thorn in her foot that is painful and makes her sit down and pull it out before she can make the long walk home with the full gourds. Nya changes from a girl who makes a long walk to water every day to a girl who goes to school.

Sweet Spot? Nya changes from a girl who is unfairly burdened by daily chores that her family needs her to do for their survival to a girl who is liberated through technology to become educated.
