Polystyrene By Jake Cyr

Properties of Polystyrene Polystyrene is actually an aromatic polymer that is made from the monomer styrene. It has a long hydrocarbon chain that has a phenyl group attached to carbon atoms. Polystyrene has a density of 1.050, a Thermal conductivity of 0.08, and a Melting point 0f 240o.

Polystyrene Materials The name of my plastic is polystyrene, and its plastic number is 6. Materials made of this plastic are disposable cups and utensils, toys, lighting and signs, construction, and foam containers and insulation. All plastic materials with a 6 on it means it’s made of polystyrene.

Polystyrene is recycled into… Polystyrene is recycled into food containers, cups/ utensils, packing materials, inside of boxes, hair cutting heads, sculptures, photo frames, egg cartons, bean bag chairs, it cost $2,000 per a ton.
