Presentation transcript:

Organize verbal information into a visual one, generally by writing down on separate pieces of paper AFFINITY DIAGRAM A sequenced plan and a tool for monitoring progress. Used when you know the steps of a project, their sequence and how long each step will take ARROW DIAGRAM

Shows the number of units in each category. Examples: Histogram and Pareto chart BAR CHART Illustrates the relationship between a given outcome and all the factors that influence the outcome. CAUSE-AND-EFFECT DIAGRAM / ISHIKAWA / FISHBONE DIAGRAM

Form used to perform frequency of specific events during a data collection period CHECK SHEET Used to measure sequential or time-related process performance and variability. Line chart with control limits. CONTROL CHART

A picture of the separate steps of a process in sequential order. Useful for examining how the various steps in a process relate to each other FLOWCHART A type of bar chart used by project managers and others in planning and control to display planned work and targets as well as work that has been completed. GANTT CHART

A graphic representation (bar chart) used to plot the frequency with which different values of a given variable occur. It can be used to measure process control and the process is considered stable if the curve is bell-shaped HISTOGRAM Clarifies problematic spots through multidimensional thinking MATRIX DIAGRAM

A quick and easy way for a group to identify the items of the highest priority in a list. MULTIVOTING -A Pareto chart is a bar graph. The lengths of the bars represent frequency or cost (time or money), and are arranged with longest bars on the left and the shortest to the right. In this way the chart visually depicts which situations are more significant. PARETO CHART

Form used to perform frequency of specific events during a data collection period PROCESS DECISION PROGRAM CHART A planning process that uses multifunctional team to transform the voice of the customer into design specifications. QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT (QFD)

Technique developed to clarify intertwined causal relationships in a complex situation in order to find an appropriate solution. RELATIONS DIAGRAM Line graph that shows data points plotted in the order in which they occur. Used to reveal trends and shifts in a process over time to show variation over time. RUN CHART

A chart in which one variable is plotted against another to determine whether there is a correlation between the two variables SCATTER DIAGRAM A graphic representation of the separation of broad, general information into increasing levels of detail. TREE DIAGRAM
