Engineers Without Borders Saskatoon Chapter

What is EWB? Human development organization: helping people in poverty through access to technology Chapters across Canada (26 student-run) Work Overseas directly Also do a lot of work in Canada What is EWB?

What is EWB: Work Overseas Every year, our local chapter sends one or two volunteers overseas They work directly with local, community projects Our chapter also funds a long-term development project (Our long-term volunteer, Danny, is currently setting up an agricultural project in Malawi)

What is EWB: Work Overseas Preston, one of our 2007 overseas volunteers. Worked this summer with a coffee farmer’s co-op in the country of Malawi. Set up infrastructure for their coffee- processing plant (especially waste- water treatment)

What is EWB: Work in Canada High School Outreach: Conduct workshops in high-school classrooms, raising awareness about poverty in Canada’s next generation Public Outreach and Advocacy: Organize events that engage Canadians in the fight against poverty Build relationships with MLAs and MPs to remind our government to play its part. Fundraising: Organize events to raise the funds that make our projects overseas possible. Member education: Learning more about the complexity of international development

Where will you see us? Our Fair Trade Coffee Sold in the hallway of the Engineering Building every morning ~ $1 donation (Honor System - Think of the Children!) Our infamous Friday BBQs 2 burgers and a pop for $5 NEW: “EWB-Cards” (Buy 10, get 2 free)
