Solving One and Two Step Equations By:Gemma Giralo

On opposite day SpongeBob did the opposite so if the sign is add you subtract, if the sign is minus you add or when you divide you multiply and when you multiply you divide. Divide your problem between the equal sign and the number before it. Check your solution!! REMEMBER: What ever you do to one side you must do to the other. Example: 6+p=29 d-23= p= 23 d=18

Step1: Divide your Problem into two between the equal sign and the number before the equal sign Circle your variable to show what you are using, like a Krabby Pattie is the most important part of the sandwich Get rid of the number next to the variable by adding or subtracting, when Squidward tries to send SpongeBob away Multiply or Divide Check!!!! EXAMPLE: 7q+32= q= q=4

Word Problems 1)The pineapple SpongeBob lives in weighs 502lbs and is three times less than Patrick's rock. Together there total weight is 1013lbs. Write and solve an equation for how much Patrick’s rock weighs. 2)SpongeBob is paid a nickel a week. On Saturday SpongeBob deposited 50cents into his bank account. Write and solve an equation for how many weeks it took SpongeBob to earn 50 cents.

Word Problems 3)SpongeBob is making Krabby Patties the recipe calls for 1.5cups of secret sauce to make a couple patties and 1.75cups of meat per Pattie. Together he used 6.75cups of ingredients. Write and solve an equation for how many Patties SpongeBob made. 4)Mr.Krabs drinks 12oz of kelp three times more than Gary. Write and solve an equation for how much kelp juice Gary drinks.

Word Problems 5)SpongeBob and Patrick went jelly fishing and caught 46 jelly fish total. SpongeBob caught four times as many as Patrick. Patrick caught two and release two. Write and solve an equation to find how many jelly fish SpongeBob caught. 6)Squidward and SpongeBob live on the same street that is 324ft long. Squidward owns nine times more than SpongeBob. Write and solve an equation to find how much SpongeBob.
