Chapter Objectives  Covers the various forms of presentation aids available today  Discusses the concept of visual communication in general and more specifically how it applies to public speaking today  Explores the complicated nature of presentation aids and how to utilize them to enhance your speech Chapter Five - Presentation Aids CHAPTER FIVE – PRESENTATION AIDS

 Models are scale devices  Graphs show numerical relationships  Charts list and summarize information  Transparencies list information and use a projector  Objects are physical things used to explain a topic Chapter Five - Presentation Aids TRADITIONAL AIDS

 Video should be relevant to the topic  Audio is useful for music or speech clips  PowerPoint slides should not be distracting  Multimedia presentations can combine video, audio, pictures and notes into one format Chapter Five - Presentation Aids TECHNOLOGICAL AIDS

 Animation can enhance the visual effects  Be consistent with animation  If overdone, it can be a distraction Chapter Five - Presentation Aids ANIMATION
