NAZI REARMAMENT AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY BEFORE THE WAR  Started in 1935, conscription  Occupations & invasions before WWII  Schachts policies; Measures to reduce unemployment and stimulate the economy, The New Plan  4-year plan, 1936; self-sufficiency, substitute production, synthetic materials ( artificial rubber), chemical industry ( synthetic fuel), steelworks, heavy machinery, strict regulations on foreign exchange, targets for private industry.

SPEER´S POLICY  Germany not ready for a long war, rearmament programmes only half completed  The Nazi victories because of the weaknesses of the enemies, but still created the image of self-confidence  F.
