Board of Supervisors Meeting January 10, 2012 Consider and take action on request for determination of public convenience or necessity on application for Type 48 Alcoholic Beverage License filed by David and Lindsey Thompson, dba The Roadhouse.

License Type 48 License Type 48 - On Sale General – Public Premises. (Bar, Night Club). Authorizes the sale of beer, wine and distilled spirits for consumption on the premises where sold. Authorizes the sale of beer and wine for consumption off the premises where sold. Minors are not allowed to enter and remain (see Section for exception, musicians). Food service is not required.

Statistics ABC advises applicant is in Census Tract (using pre-2010 census tract info). Nine (9) on-sale* licenses are allowed by ABC in this census tract. Currently there are eleven (11) existing on- sale licenses in this census tract (2 in surrender mode). ABC has determined that undue license concentration exists in this census tract. *on-sale licenses include Types 40, 41, 42, 47, 48, 49, 51 and 52.

County policy requires three criteria be considered before determination of public convenience or necessity would be served by the issuance. 1. The issuance of a license would not tend to create a law enforcement problem and increase the level of crime activity. 2. The issuance of a license would provide a needed service to the community and that without this use there would be an inconvenience to the community; 3. The issuance of a license will have a positive impact on the local economy.
