Satire  Satire: a work that pokes fun at people, events, ideas, etc. for the purpose of making a point about the faults of society -Can be written like The Canterbury Tales, visual like political cartoons or TV shows such as “The Simpsons”, or oral like songs  For examples of satirical songs, access the following link! 

Parody  Parody: a work that mocks existing works, people, events, or ideas, etc. for the purpose of entertainment. -Can be written like Don Quixote, visual like memes or TV shows such as “Family Guy”, or oral like songs (such as Weird Al)  Satire and parody are often used in an integrated manner. For example, skits on “Saturday Night Live” are often a mixture of the two.  Parody is also sometimes considered a technique used within satire instead of being seen as its own genre.  For more on satire and parody, access this super cool Prezi! 
