Presentation transcript:

Cover Letter This year in science I have learned about a variety of topics, ranging from chemistry to the rock cycle. Topics include the formation of Earth, the solar system, layers that form the Earth, the distinctive properties of minerals, the rock cycle, the carbon cycle, Earth’s interior, sea-floor spreading, topography, etc. My favorite subject was balancing chemical equations while my least favorite subject was studying solids, liquids, and gases.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to complete all the assignments for class. Why? I would rate myself a 5. I demonstrate hard work and fortitude through the quality of my work. I exhibit dedication and perseverance by always putting forth the appropriate time span to understand concepts that are associated with the assignment. I could improve by using different studying techniques.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your class time effort & positive contributions to class discussions. Why? I would rate myself a 5. Out of all my classes, I put forth the most effort and time into science because I am interested, intrigued, and curious about the subjects. I also try to contribute in class discussions. I could improve my positive contributions to class discussions by trying to contribute a few more comments during discussions, though I usually have little background knowledge.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) rate yourself on your ability to work with others in class. Why? I would rate my ability to work with others in class as a 4. My thoughts and ideas are so different and distinct than the others, putting me at a difficult position to compromise because they are so different. For the most part though, I am able to compromise and work around our diverse ideas. I could improve on this by trying to find the common idea we agree on then developing on it.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) describe items you want to improve upon for next quarter/year. Why? Next year I would like to expand my background knowledge about science by reading various 9 th grade textbooks. I think enlarging my background knowledge will help my understanding flow smoother rather than learning large concentrated chunks of information at once. The importance of this is a 5 because it is a basic.

On a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) describe what went well in this school year. Why? Many things went well this school year in science class. Expanding my knowledge in numerous subjects was an area that I really improved on. The best subject was learning how to balance chemical equations, simply because I could connect it to my favorite class, math. I think with my knowledge of science right now, my transition to high school science will go well.
