City perspective lesson ILLUSTRATOR UNIT City perspective lesson

Linear/Mathematical Perspective A system developed during the early Italian Renaissance that enabled artists to represent the visible world in a convincingly illusionistic way. This scientific system was used to record the exact view that could be seen from a single or multiple vantage points.

Atmospheric Perspective A method of rendering the effect of spatial distance on a 2-D plane by using variations in color and clarity to convey the feeling of distance.

Notice how the objects get lighter as they go into the distance.

Intuitive Persepctive A method of representing a 3-D space on a 2-D surface by the use of formal elements that act to give the impression of recession. (ie: making background figures smaller to convey spatial depth, or overlapping). This impression is achieved not by mathematic/scientific systems, but by visual instinct.

Reverse Perspective A theory in which the imaginary perspective lines converge at the viewer’s eye, rather than a vanishing point in the picture.

Objective:

RUBERIC

Work order

Drawing skyscrapers One of the more challenging perspective drawing problems is that of drawing skyscrapers. Drawing Skyscrapers are challenging because there are many different rectangular solids and thus many different vanishing lines. Your task in this special project is to design a skyscraper complex with at least three towers in two point perspective.

Step One Begin wit a horizon line and two vanishing points. Draw the front vertical edge of your first building with all the vanishing lines

EXAMPLE

Step Two Complete the 2-point perspective view of the first building.

Example

Step Three Next, Draw in a couple of the taller buildings. Start with the front vertical edge of each building and draw the vanishing lines. Complete the perspective view.

Example

Step four Create additional buildings and use vanishing lines to add architectural details.

Step Five Erase all necessary lines and add other details CHECK OUT THE FOLLOWING STEPS…..
