Agenda for the Day Important Dates Discussion Questions: Exploring Aztec Culture Group Work: Taking a Position: National Anthem Questions?????

Discussion Questions Chapter 7 + 8 How might a society’s worldview influence its ability to adapt to its physical geography? What belief led the Aztecs to decide to settle in Tenochtitlan? How did religious beliefs affect the worldview of the Aztecs? How did the structure of the Aztec society tell us what was important to the Aztec people? How are a society’s social structure and its educational system related?

Current Event Our national anthem is in the news!! The anthem was changed in 1914 after the war. Now the debate is raging to change the lyrics back to the original version. You are going to get a chance to discuss this with your partner!!

Original Anthem Original Lyrics of O Canada! O Canada! Our home, our native land, True patriot love thou dost in us command. We see thee rising fair, dear land, The True North strong and free; And stand on guard, O Canada, We stand on guard for thee.

Our Anthem “O Canada! Our home and native land True patriot love in all thy sons command.” It is argued that “in all they sons command” leaves out half the population of our country. Should it be changed???? What would you be willing to do to change it?

What’s Coming Up? Possible onsite – End of April Exploring Spanish and Aztec interaction Final questions???
