Journal Entry In your Daily Data table, instead of writing the number of students who chose each one, write the fraction of our class who chose each one. For example… How many students chose just Mercury? How many students are there in all? ? ?

Fractions Word Wall In math, the whole means the entire thing. My mom baked a whole cake for my birthday! She didn’t just bake part of it, she baked the entire cake!

Fractions Word Wall A fraction is an equal piece of the whole. Since there were many people at my party, we had to cut the cake to be sure that everyone could eat a fraction of the whole cake.

Fractions Word Wall The numerator is the top number you write in a fraction. It tells how many pieces you’re talking about. ½
