Online Course Best Practices

Online Best Practices Students and Instructors should have adequate access to technology and technical support in order to succeed. The quality and quantity of work for distance and on-campus courses should be comparable. Instructors should have completed at least one online course themselves.

Online Best Practices Students should be motivated to want to learn. Instructors should make a course syllabus available to students. The course should have a face to face meeting at the beginning and preferably at the end of the course.

Online Best Practices Instructors should clearly communicate specific course objectives to their students. Also these objectives should be repeated throughout the course. Instructors should communicate with their distance students with frequency. This would include use of , discussion boards and interactive chats.

Online Best Practices Instructors should encourage and manage student to student discussion in order to foster learning. Students need to given a checklist of how they are doing(Use the Gradebook) Instructors need to be able to detect students that are not participating early and employee strategies to help them succeed.
