 Origin of country is 1821  Has some volcanoes and mountains  19 volcanoes and 5 main rivers  Mostly mountains with narrow costal plains and rolling limestone plateau  Divided into 6 regions  Stretches 430 km from east and 450 km from north to south

 Mostly speak Spanish, Amerindian dialects  42% of the people are under the age of 15  Some are ladinos  Live in villages and usually do not travel beyond the country’s borders

 Best way to be introduced to indigenous culture in the highlands  Visiting Lake Atitlan and taking advantage of all the area  You will find plenty of relaxing seaside stretches

 Sends crude, or unrefined oil to overseas markets  Depend on exporting of agriculture products from the farms  Wood products from rain forest  Work as laborers or businesspeople
