ECFA European Committee for Future Accelerators ECFA HL-LHC Experiments Workshop November 8, 2014RECFA UK3 2 nd Workshop: Oct. 2014, Aix-les-Bains, F Again a very efficient and interesting workshop! 250 registered participants. Many synergies and joint projects between the experiments are identified and beeing conducted. A summary document will be produced and presented to Plenary ECFA in November. Discussion on a 3 rd workshop, possibly in 2016, has started.
ECFA European Committee for Future Accelerators November 8, 2014RECFA UK4 Instrumentation School in Serbia University of Novi Sad, Serbia September 8-13, 2014 Jointly organised by CERN, the ICFA Instrumentation Panel and ECFA The school was initiated during a RECFA country visit to Serbia. 60 students participated in lectures and laboratory courses (1/3 from Serbia, 1/3 from the Danube region, 1/3 international). This 1 week school is a very successful format for the promotion of detector physics.

ECFA European Committee for Future Accelerators ECFA Chair election November 8, 2014RECFA UK13 10 colleagues have been nominated by RECFA representatives. I have contacted all and asked if they stand. The following four colleagues have agreed to stand as candidate: Halina Abramowicz (ISR) Umberto Dosselli (I) Max Klein (UK) Guy Wormser (F) CVs and statements have been distributed to RECFA October 7. The elected candidate will be presented to Plenary ECFA November 20/21 for endorsement.
ECFA European Committee for Future Accelerators Election Process November 8, 2014RECFA UK14 Eligible for voting are representatives from the CERN member states (including Romania as candidate for accession and Serbia as associate member state in the pre-stage to membership), and one from CERN. Observers do not participate in the voting. The number of eligible voters is therefore 24. For the election itself I would like to propose the following procedure (same procedure as in 2011): 1) In order the election to be valid, there must be more than 2/3 of eligible voters participating (i.e. 16). Proxy votes are accepted, however should not exceed 1/6 of the number of the eligible voters (i.e. 4). 2) At every round of voting, those with the lowest number of votes are dropped, until only one candidate is left or one has achieved more than 2/3 of the votes. 3) The last candidate must receive an endorsement by more than 2/3 of the votes participating. 4) Proxy votes can be given to the chair with an exact instruction how to follow the steps described in 2) and 3). I have received 4 proxy votes (Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Serbia)
ECFA European Committee for Future Accelerators Election Process November 8, 2014RECFA UK15 Proposal for one amendment to the election process: -In the case, following a vote, the sum of dropped votes is larger than 50% of the eligible votes, the voting will be repeated. E.g. eligible votes 21, result
