Small Business Development Center “Your source for Business Assistance”

ORIGINS Established in 1980 with Federal legislation “The Small Business Development Center Act” Responsible for developing programs and providing services that effectively meet the economic development goals and initiatives of the Small Business Administration and local partners such as the City of Los Angeles Hosted by Community Colleges, Non-Profits, and Universities. VEDC has hosted the NLA SBDC for over 14 years with sustainable growth and performance.

SBDC Structure National Program of the SBA Has a National Association Technical assistance arm of the SBA Matching program leveraging federal funds with local funding sources. Regional network serves LA, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties

Regional Network  Four main SBDC Centers:  East L.A. – Mt. San Antonio College  Satellite: Pasadena  Southeast L.A. – Rio Hondo College  North L.A. – VEDC  Satellites: South LA, Glendale/NE LA, Van Nuys, Downtown and Central LA, West LA, Ventura, Santa Barbara  Southwest L.A. – El Camino College  Each main center has a network of outreach locations servicing communities directly.

Target Market All small businesses regardless of ethnicity, gender, location, or income level that have a potential for positive economic impact. Our focus is on existing businesses with growth potential. With marketing to low to moderate census areas and identified empowerment zones.
